Origin

The oil lamp, reconsidered

Lampa is a thoughtfully crafted product inspired by the rich cultural heritage of Persia. Drawing from the elegant form of traditional Persian oil lamps, its design seamlessly blends history with contemporary sensibility — every detail, from silhouette to material, pays homage to ancient craftsmanship.

Process

Colour, material, finish

The design honours tradition and functionality through a palette of Persian red, cobalt blue, and turquoise green, grounded by earthy tones like silver sand and kobe. The main body is textured glass, inspired by traditional Iranian windows, diffusing light into a soft, ambient glow that reflects historical aesthetics.

A modern controller ring sits subtly beneath the glass, drawing on the intuitive, tactile mechanisms of ancient oil lamps — a fusion of cultural heritage and contemporary ergonomics.

Outcome

A first prototype

This initial Lampa prototype represents the crucial step of translating centuries of Iranian artistry into a tangible product — more than a lighting object, a poetic tribute to Persian artistry, reimagined for today's living spaces. Developed for Entekhab Design Studio.
